You’re considering a hot tub - imagining relaxing evenings, stress-melting hydrotherapy, and fun-filled weekends. But you’re also curious. How does this thing actually work?

Let’s lift the lid and explore exactly what makes your hot tub experience effortless and luxurious.

How does a hot tub work?

Heating the Water: Your Personal Spa, Always Ready

At the heart of your hot tub experience is warm, welcoming water. Here’s how it gets there:

Heating Element: Inside your hot tub is an electric heater, typically made from high-quality, corrosion-resistant titanium or stainless steel. It gently warms the water as it passes through, ensuring a consistent, soothing temperature.

Temperature Control: Gecko control systems - trusted worldwide - precisely regulate the temperature. You simply set your desired comfort level, and the system maintains it, ready whenever you are.

Warm water. No waiting. Pure comfort.

Gecko circulation pump for a hot tub

Circulation Pump: The Quiet Hero

Many premium hot tubs feature a dedicated circulation pump. This quiet, energy-efficient pump moves water gently through your heater, filters, and pipework continuously.

Constant Cleanliness: Continuous filtration keeps your water crystal clear.

Energy Efficiency: Low energy consumption equals lower bills and eco-friendliness.

Quiet Operation: Whisper-quiet performance maintains a peaceful spa experience.

Enjoy crystal-clear water with minimum effort.

Jet Pumps: Powerful Massage at Your Fingertips

Jet pumps give your hot tub its luxurious hydrotherapy power. Activate your jets, and these robust pumps push water forcefully through carefully placed jets, delivering targeted massage therapy.

Dual-Speed Pumps: Some spas have a single dual-speed jet pump. The high speed powers your jets for strong, therapeutic massage when the hot tub is in use. The low speed gently circulates water when the hot tub is not in use, maintaining filtration and cleanliness.

Multiple Pumps: Other models feature two jet pumps, delivering even greater performance and massage intensity.

Therapeutic Benefits: Alleviate aches, soothe muscles, and reduce stress effectively.

Customisable Zones: Diverters let you control water flow, directing intensity exactly where you want it - shoulders, lower back, or feet.

Unwind effortlessly. Feel the power of precise massage.

Pipework & Diverters: Hidden Comfort, Visible Results

Beneath your hot tub’s sleek surface lies a network of high-quality pipework:

Flexible & Durable Pipework: Engineered to withstand years of hot water and pressure without leaks or wear.

Diverter Valves: Simple controls allow you to customise hydrotherapy. Direct water flow to seats needing extra power or balance it evenly for shared relaxation.

Comfort tailored exactly to your needs.

Control Systems: Simplicity Meets Sophistication

We exclusively use Gecko control systems, renowned for their reliability and intuitive ease of use:

Easy-to-Use Panels: Set temperatures, activate jets, control lighting, and audio seamlessly.

Smart Technology: Many Gecko systems support remote access via smartphone, so your hot tub is always just a tap away.

Faultless Operation: Minimal fuss, maximum enjoyment.

You’re always in control, effortlessly.

Filtration Cycles: Clean Water, Effortlessly Maintained

Your hot tub maintains cleanliness through regular filtration cycles:

Automatic Cycles: Pre-set cycles run daily, filtering debris and contaminants.

Efficient Filters: Capture dirt, oils, and particles effectively. Easy to clean and maintain.

Peace of Mind: Cleaner water means safer, healthier soaking.

Relax. Your hot tub is always ready and clean.

Energy Efficiency: Insulation & Design Excellence

We prioritise energy efficiency, saving you money without compromising luxury:

Full Foam Insulation: Keeps warmth inside, significantly lowering running costs. Available on selected models.

33mm Foam Sandwich Base: Adds insulation and structural strength, minimising heat loss. Available on selected models.

HeatBank Insulation Boards: Adds a thick layer of foam insulation around the inside of your hot tub's cabinetry. Available on selected models.

ThermoLock Cabinet Panels: Triple-layer insulation further reduces energy consumption.

Warm water, reduced bills. Because we know that many customers ask about running costs of a hot tub.

Power: Understanding Electrical Requirements

Hot tubs typically come in two power configurations—13A (plug-and-play) and 32A (hardwired):

13A Hot Tubs: Simply plug into a standard UK outdoor socket. Convenient and easy installation, ideal for quick setup. However, these models can operate either the heater or jets independently—not simultaneously. Perfect for smaller spas or occasional use.

32A Hot Tubs: Require dedicated wiring by a qualified electrician, allowing simultaneous heating and jet use. Ideal for larger spas or regular, intensive use.

Importantly, all our 13A spas can be easily upgraded to 32A at no extra cost, providing flexibility and future-proofing your investment.

Flexible power, tailored to your lifestyle.
